Design Guidelines

The intent of the Design Guidelines Booklet is to establish guidelines which will enhance the environment for trade, entertainment, and leisure through basic principles of design, such as building texture, color, rhythm, and pattern. The result will be an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere in the downtown that preserves taxable values and promotes public health, safety, and general welfare. These guidelines will introduce the downtown community to the future, while maintaining its rich heritage.

Business and Property Owner Incentives

There are many available incentives for business and property owners in downtown Waterloo. These incentives are available to encourage economic development, business expansion and job creation. Helping businesses through tax advantages, low interest loans, and other incentives, it furthers the common goal of achieving long-term economic growth. The information included in the brochure is general information and may not apply to everyone. Many incentives require pre-applications and meeting certain qualifications before you can be eligible.
