Downtown Lights The Night:
A Miracle on 4th Street!

Downtown started off the holiday season with our Downtown Lights the Night event.  This year the event was held on December 5 with the theme of A Miracle on 4th StreeSanta 2009t - to celebrate the completion of the street improvements along East 4th Street and all the great changes happening throughout Downtown.

Over 400 children took this opportunity to make crafts, shop for their families, enjoy a wagon ride, and of course, pass their Christmas list along to Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Santa abandoned his sleigh for the night and walked along 4th Street to the Regions Park at the corner of East 4th & Sycamore where he was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.  With a hearty "Ho, Ho, Ho - Merry Christmas" the group was inspired by the lighting of the tree.  What a wonderful way to celebrate our community.  This event could not have been completed without the hard work of our volunteers and sponsor contributions.  Please support those businesses who invest in making our community a great place to live, work, and play!

Many Thanks to Our Event Sponsors:

VGM Forbin, Kimball & Beecher DDS, JSA Development, Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, Holmes & Holmes Law Firm, INVISION architecture, Roth Jewelers, Bergan, Paulsen & Company, Lance Vanderloo, Black Hawk County Abstract & Title, Bourre Lounge, Roux Orleans, YWCA, Bridges Lifestyle Living, Classic Kitchen & Bath, Beau Monde Boutique & Salon, Masonic Event Center, KCRR, McDonald's, Cardinal Construction, Mid American Energy, Signs & Designs,Mike Walden, Kurtenbach Electrical Workers 288, Verbraken's New Look Painting & Decorating, West High School, Bank Iowa, Waterloo Community Playhouse

Invest in Downtown

Downtown Waterloo has seen many changes over the past several years. Waterloo's character goes beyond the historic beauty of the buildings.  The character can be found in how people treat each other and how we come together to promote and celebrate the whole community.  Our character is evident everyday as people greet their neighbors at our restaurants, share stories at Friday'loo, and recommend their favorite Downtown business.

Downtown Waterloo is a lot of things to a lot of people.  Show how important Downtown is to you.  Main Street Waterloo will be following up with our fund-raising efforts in 2010.  We invite everyone to show their support.  We are thrilled to promote events Downtown, improveoutdoor seating the visual quality, engage new businesses, and get people involved in our community.  With your contributions and support we can do even more.  Main Street now has the ability to accept credit card donations on-line. It's easy and as always it is tax deductible.

Snow and Parking Downtown

Did you know with too much snow you could get towed?

During a snow emergency ( 2 or more inches) don't park your car on the street overnight.  Having the streets clear helps the City get the snow removed more easily.  Cars that are impeding the City services can be towed.

Solution - Park in the ramps overnight for free
(just be out by 7:00 am)
